Special Guest!
Susan Castillo, former State Senator and State Superintendent
We are honored to host Susan Castillo at this week's Town Hall - please join this special conversation!
Susan Castillo was the first Latina to serve in the Oregon Legislature, serving six years as a state Senator from 1997 to 2003. She was then elected statewide, becoming the first Latina to hold statewide office in Oregon and served for three terms from 2003 to 2012 as Oregon Superintendent of Public Instruction.
We'll learn about Susan's experience as an elected leader in Oregon, and talk about what our landscape of Latinx leaders looks like today and the opportunities that presents!
We'll also have a short visit from newly elected Carmen Rubio, the first Latinx person elected to Portland's City Council.
