Representation & Shared Power
To achieve equitable representation and to appropriately serve our community, Latinx/a/o people must be represented in management and leadership, and be included in strategic conversations prior to the deployment of policy and services. The state must provide clear guidance and make the necessary budget commitment across agencies for hiring and contracting Latinx/a/o and Mesoamerican Indigenous bilingual and bicultural people and culturally-specific organizations. To this end, Oregon must:
Make it stand out.
Appoint
Appoint Latinx people to ALL Governor appointed committees and commissions.
Hire
Hire Agency Directors, Deputy Directors, and program and operations staff to equitably represent the Latinx community.
Invest
Invest in leadership development and peer support for people of color engaging in mainstream spaces; invest in anti-racism work at all levels of government; and support our community to create other spaces through which we engage, advise, and partner with government entities.
Require
Require disaggregated data collection, analysis, and transparency across all State Agencies.
